1. General Submission Principles

All submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. Authors must ensure that their work is free from plagiarism and properly cited. ISI aims to provide policy relevant, evidence based, and analytically rigorous content on national, regional, and global issues.

  • Submissions are expected to reflect clarity, originality, and relevance to contemporary policy challenges, particularly in the domains of international relations, strategic studies, governance, development, foreign policy, and International Political Economy.
  • Submissions should be analytical and policy oriented rather than purely descriptive. Strong arguments, clarity of thought, and practical recommendations are encouraged.
  • Please note that we use AI and plagiarism detection tools.

2. Publication Guidelines

🔹 3.1 Op-Ed

Nature:Short, opinion-driven, policy relevant commentary on global, regional or national issues.
Word Limit:700–1,200 words
Structure:
  • Clear argument or thesis
  • Brief context
  • Policy implications or recommendations 
Style:Concise, persuasive, and accessible to a broad audience

🔹 3.2 Articles (Policy Articles / Analytical Papers)

Nature:In depth analysis of strategic, political, economic, or security issues
Word Limit:2,000–2,500 words
Requirements:
  • Strong evidence base and referencing
  • Use hyperlinks as your citation
  • Clear contribution to policy debate 

 

🔹 3.3 Newsletter Contributions

Nature:Short updates, commentary, or summaries of recent developments
Word Limit:500–800 words
Content Focus:
  • Recent policy developments
  • Institutional updates
  • Event summaries or expert insights
Style:Informative, concise, and accessible

🔹 3.4 Explainers

Nature:Educational, simplified analysis of complex issues
Word Limit:800–1,500 words
Structure:
  • Definition of the issue
  • Background/context
  • Key concepts explained clearly
  • Why it matters (policy relevance) 
Style:Clear, structured, and reader-friendly
Minimal jargon; use of examples encouraged

🔹 3.4 Explainers

Nature:Informal yet analytical reflections on current affairs, trends, or emerging issues
Word Limit:600–1,000 words
Style:
  • Engaging and accessible
  • Analytical but less formal than articles
  • May include personal insights, but must remain evidence-informed

2.3 Review And Publication Process

All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening to assess relevance, quality, and plagiarism, followed by substantive review and editing, and final approval by the editorial board.

For longer analytical articles, ISI may apply a single or double-blind peer review process in line with ISSI practices.

The overall review process may take up to one week. If no response is received, it should be understood that the submission has not been selected for publication.

2.4 Confidentiality and Ethics

Manuscripts under review are treated as confidential. Authors and reviewers must adhere to ethical standards aligned with HEC guidelines.
